VR (Virtual Reality) refers to immersive experiences where users view a fully simulated environment through a head-mounted display (HMD). For VR use, display modules must deliver high pixel density, fast refresh rates, and low persistence so text and fine UI remain readable while motion stays smooth and comfortable. Because the display sits very close to the eyes and is magnified by optics, VR panels are often optimized to reduce artifacts that quickly break immersion—such as screen-door effect, motion blur, smear, and visible mura. Consistent color, stable luminance, and uniformity across the panel are also critical for a “solid” image that doesn’t feel uneven during head movement.
From a system perspective, VR displays typically require low latency (fast pixel response plus efficient signal/processing paths) to reduce motion-to-photon delay and help minimize nausea or fatigue. High contrast and strong brightness headroom improve perceived clarity, especially in scenes with deep shadows and highlights.
